Tattoo Aftercare
How To Care For A New Tattoo
Your new tattoo is your baby. Take care of it by frequently washing with an unscented, antibacterial soap to avoid infection. It normally takes 2 to 4 weeks for your tattoo to be completely healed, but even after it's healed, it’s important to keep it clean and moisturized.
Tips To Soothe Itchy, Dry Skin
Keep your tattoo clean and dry. Additionally, avoid soaking it in water for at least a month (showers are ok, baths are not). If your clothes are likely to rub on it, keep it covered.
Hydrate your skin. Moisturize tattooed skin three to four times a day for the first few weeks after it has healed.
Remember to wear a sunscreen. Avoid exposing it to direct sunlight. Healed tattoos, especially colored ones, can fade in the sun – so when it’s completely healed, make sure your tattoo (and for that matter all of you) is covered in a sunscreen that offers broad-spectrum protection (UVA and UVB) with an SPF of 30 or higher and water resistance (If you are going to be in the water).
